Jews + BBQ = Epic Success

Check out this comedian Reese Waters that came to Gampel for a little hip-hop comedy night, I don't think I've ever laughed as hard at a stand-up comedian (excluding Dave Chappelle).

First Day of classes is today (I'm writing this really late at night) and for some reason I am a little nervous. I don't exactly know where my classes are except for the one in the chemistry building lol so I shall have to wing it.

Also, today I attended church at St. Thomas Aquinas, where I hope to grow more in faith. Yeah, sounds lame lol but there was some mint bbq afterwards. Basically, if you haven't visited the UConn campus often, there is this street full of churches and synagogues where campus ministry occurs. Right next to us were the Jews...I gotta say they had a BUMPIN BBQ! It almost made me want to be jewish, they had music blastin' out of the speakers and everyone was having a sick time. They also played this fuckin fire song, it was the beat for Viva La Vida by coldplay with Kanye and Twista rapping over it! Out of this world good lol I need to look it up soon. PCE!

Confidence of a Statue

Uconn has been a blast so far!! Last night was my first college party experiance lol, and it was totally the opposite of what I expected. First, I hit up this subog bloc party that the University throws to get some s.w.a.g. (stuff we all get) lol and made out with a nice bag and some posters of like the football team that will be up on my wall soon. Then we headed up to some apartments on campus to get some stuff and pregamed a little, and headed over to this street full of house parties. It was pandemonium! There was literally about two or three thousand people just walking from party to party and chillin in the roads and whatnot lol. My buddy and I hit up mad parties, yet were dismayed to find that of the eight houses to have parties, all of them were out. We showed up too late, supply was limited and there were boatloads of people, it was still a sick night though. Definitely hitting up that hotspot again very soon!!!

Also, I ran into a weird situation today lol. While walking out of one of the meetings with the dean of the college of liberal arts, I held the door for some people. This polish kid walks up to me and is like "Are you polish?" So I said "Nah Man, Im English."

"Oh, my name is Adrianvoshkowzneiea;lsdkgj"
"What?"
"Adrian Voshkowe;ljag;lds"
"Oh, whatsup Adrian, I'm Steve."
*Shakes Hand*
Adrian: "Are you a senior?"

At this remark I was flattered that he thought I was a senio
r, but frankly I did question whether he was still drunk because I really don't look anything at all like a 22 year old kid lol. So I said "Nah dude Im a freshman, what makes you think Im a senior?"
Adrian: "You have a presence about you when you walk, you have the confidence of a statue."

I was quite impressed with this compliment lol because comeon that's pretty creative. Im like picturing myself as Paul Fuckin Revere saving the nation or something haha!
I mean, that's fuckin badass. Although the girls I was with thought he was hitting on me haha, I'm stickin with my stance that he was just some weird, slightly creepy foreigner haha, plus my gay-dar is quite reliable.

Btw, my count of girls numbers up to this point: 10

First Day

First Day at Uconn....I have to admit it was pretty damn boss. I met up with some old friends, made a ton of new ones, and chilled with my good friends from NH. I got some really cute girls number that lives right down my hall and she seems really nice, so I am definitely excited about that. Plus, I finally met Tima (my cousin Kathryn's best friend)! She was really nice and she had some decent looking friends so my web is expanding haha, Im gonna go to bed though its really late and Im going for a run tomorrow...HUSKIES!

Also, how about this for some hella bullshit lol, the soccer game vs umass got cancelled...guess ill have to start partying earlier than planned =]

Mike Pezza

My last day in North Haven was pretty chill. Basically (Im the worst nightmare you ever had, etc etc lol) I did a little last minute shopping with the maja and then went to Trisha's barn with Geoff to go see some Newfoundlands, which are basically collossal dogs lol

lol damn I love those dogs. Also present at the farm were HELLA llamas haha and you know I need to post a pic up because they are so funny-lookin/creepy/vince jakiela-look-a-like-ish.

lonely llama by suzie-anne.

Anyways, then went to the mall with Jim McG and Matt and did some last minute school shopping. Nothing too big. So excited for tomorrow!!!!

Back to the important thing--Uconn Soccer. Mike Pezza, captain of the team is the real deal!! He led the nation in assists two years ago as a sophomore which is pretty ridiculous. He has lightning speed and vision up the wazoo for real lol he can definitely hang with the outside midfielders on any college team on any given day. Check it out:

Inglorious Basterds

Yesterday was not the best day of summer, in fact it fell far from it. That was the day that I had to put my dog, Snickers, down. I would say that that event falls easily into my top 5 saddest moments list. He had no idea what was going on though lol he was just all abuzz with excitement till the moment his tail stopped wagging, he was always a dumb, happy go lucky mutt haha.

As for the nightlife in my third-to-last night in North Haven, where better to hit up than the movie theatre for some 6 dollar tuesday action! I saw inglorious basterds (which btw is a 142 minute film!) and loved it! Brad Pitt was hilarious as Aldo Raine and whoever was the actor for the "Jew Hunter" was amazing, I'm feeling some sort of Best Actor Award for that role.

Also, coming up in my next post will be an installment in my meet the huskies soccer team section haha: introducing Mike Pezza!

Go Huskies!

Toni Stahl!!!!

I just said goodbye to my cousin Kathryn who's leaving for Syracuse soon =/
She is legit like my favorite cousin (if you're one of my many, many other cousins and you're reading this I was actually lying-YOU are my favorite cousin) so that was hella sad.

On another note, since not a lot happened today I'm going to bring my blog readers up to speed on the legend known as Toni Stahl. This kid is the real deal, and will be mentioned many-a-time here, most likely due to his insane prowess in the game of soccer and the goals that are sure to come this year. He is a dirty defensive center midfielder with a knack for doing everything right. I once saw a Uconn Soccer game in intense cold, it must have been 10 degrees fareinheit or less, and Toni Stahl was the only player on the field wearing a mere short sleeve t-shirt and shorts (the former of which was taken off as a celebration of their victory, hes a psycho). Check him out, he's on the shortlist for the equilavent of the Heisman trophy for college soccer.

Club Tryouts

I'm so excited for Uconn to start in four days! It's such a surreal feeling...I'm not sure what to expect at all which to be perfectly honest makes me a little nervous. This is the first time I'm really going to be on my own, in a couple of senses actually, without Geoff or anyone in my family to rely on. Can I make it at such a big school? Will I adjust to college life? I'll sum it up with the wise words of Drizzy J Rogers "I just wanna be - I just wanna be successfullll".

But enough philosophical thoughts, lets get straight to it

I've decided to try out for the Uconn Men's Club Soccer Team! It was a last minute decision--really I just made it about an hour ago lol, but I'm excited. Time to cram in some training!! Jim's going to try out with me too, moreso with the hopes of meeting Toni Stahl than actually making the team. I think it will be fun--I'm not actually expecting to make it because I am wayyy out of soccer shape and I haven't really touched the ball alot this summer, but it'll be a cool experiance for sure. I will definitely be posting the rigours of tryouts in the days to come. Stay tuned!
